 Fostering positive relationships with families and the community

Learn The Names of the Parents – All good communication  begins with knowing names
Declare Your Intention -Tell them that you want to partner with them, that you appreciate their support, and look forward to working together for the best results
Communicate Often and in Various Forms-email, telephone etc.
Lead with the Good News-Give positive praise first when calling parents or meeting with them to discuss a concern-it’s not all negative with a student
Your Language is Powerful-It communicates an awareness that there are many different kinds of families-single moms and dads
Listen to Parents-Really listen. They usually know a whole lot about their child
Invite Parents or look to be invited to Celebrate and Break Bread Together-Communities are strengthened when people come together in celebration.
